| Frequent Questions |
When I try to edit a PHP, CFML, ASP or ASPX file in TopStyle, I get a message asking whether I want to download the file. How do I stop this? TopStyle's preview uses an embedded copy of Internet Explorer, and since Internet Explorer doesn't understand server-side files such as PHP, CFML and ASP it will prompt you to download these files instead of displaying them. To prevent this, you need to pass the files through your local web server so that the server-side code is processed. You do this in TopStyle by defining a "server mapping." For details on how this works, please see the "Understanding Mappings" section in TopStyle's help file.Is it possible to undo once you have saved a document? Yes. "Undo after save" is disabled by default, but can be enabled on the Editor page in TopStyle's options.
While I'm editing in TopStyle, the keyboard focus keeps moving to the preview. How do I fix this? This problem only occurs when using Mozilla as
TopStyle's internal browser. This is caused by a bug in Mozilla itself, so it's not something we're able to fix. Note that the focus only shifts when the preview is updated, so you can make this less of a problem by disabling TopStyle's automatic preview (Options > Preview).
I want to use a preview document that contains server-side scripting, such as ASP or ColdFusion. How do I do this? In order to translate the server-side code, the document must first be passed through a local web server. In TopStyle, you do this by specifying
a mapping. Go to the Options dialog (F8), then switch to the Mappings page and follow the instructions for setting up a
mapping. Note: TopStyle's mapping feature is designed to work with a local web server (i.e.: localhost), not with a remote server.
How can I configure the TAB key to block indent code? By default, TopStyle uses Shift+Ctrl+. to indent and Shift+Ctrl+, to unindent. However, it's easy to change these settings using custom Keyboard Shortcuts: Click Options > Keyboard Shortcuts. Click Copy to create a new keyboard set (you can't modify the "TopStyle Default" set) and give it any name you like. The list of commands is sorted alphabetically. Find Indent and select it. Place your cursor in the input field at the bottom and press the Tab key. Click the Assign button. Next find Unindent and assign the Shift and Tab keys.
Is TopStyle available in languages besides English? Sorry, but TopStyle is only available in an English language version. |
